Learn the rules of the table first. A 3:2 blackjack pays more than 6:5. Dealer stands or hits on soft 17, and whether you may double after a split, both change a few cells of the chart.
Common cells, for a typical shoe that pays 3:2 and where the dealer stands on soft 17: hit hard 8 or less, stand on hard 17 or more, double 11 against a dealer 2 through 10, and do not take insurance. Pairs and soft hands have more exceptions. Use a chart that matches the exact rules rather than a slogan.
